Toshiba Computer Systems today announced two new netbook models which are based on Intel Atom platform and boasts enhanced sound features -the mini NB500 and the mini NB520.
For the mini NB520, Toshiba claims that is the world’s first netbook with embedded premium speakers from Harman/Kardon for a vibrant bass and crystal clear trebles. It has a slim and stylish casing with textured exterior finish, measuring 261.9mm x 189.5mm x 16.6mm and weights 1.32kg with its 6 cell battery. The mini NB520 packs a 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) TruBrite LED-backlit displays and is powered by Intel Atom N550 processors. Offer continue with up to a 250GB hard drive, Ethernet LAN, 802.11 b/g/n, 3x USB 2.0 including one with Sleep and Charge, 2-in-1 reader, Bluetooth 2.1(software upgrade to Bluetooth 3.0 will be available later) and VGA web camera with microphone.
The netbook is also equipped with multi-touch control touch Pad and mentioned Harman/Kardon stereo speakers with 2 x 2 watts output, backed by Dolby Advanced Audio technology. Additional features include Toshiba Sleep-and-Music, enabling you to play music through the speakers when the netbook is switched off. It comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 Starter 32 bit, available in blue, brown, lime green, turquoise, and orange colors and offers up to 10 hours work time.
As for the mini NB500, it has almost the same features as its bigger brother, but lacks of Harmon/Kardon speakers and is powered by Intel Atom N455 and of course will come at more competitive price. The mini NB500 comes also in a black version. Both new mini’s will be available during the first quarter of 2011 throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa.
