Sony Ericsson today extended its Xperia smartphone portfolio with three new additions, first of which is targeted at consumers with active lifestyle.
Sony Ericsson Xperia active is fitted with 3-inch (320 x 480 pixels) multi touch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, covered by scratch-resistant mineral glass. It is powered by 1Ghz processor, backed by 320MB internal memory and microSD card. The phone is dust proof and water resistant, can be kept under 1m of water for 30 mins, and also supports wet finger tracking.
The Xperia active has dimensions of 55 x 92 x 16.5mm and weighs 10.8 grams. It has built-in GPS, Barometer and digital compass, along with Wireless N with DLNA support, Bluetooth, FM radio with RDS and 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p video recording.
The phone runs on the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will come pre-loaded with sports apps that enable consumers to easily track their fitness levels, including on-screen heart rate monitoring through ANT+. It will come with lots of goodies in the box – 2GB memory card, one extra exchangeable soft touch back cover, detachable ear hooks for the portable handsfree active headse, wrist strap, an arm case for use during a workout, and Micro USB cable for charging and computer data transfer.
Sony Ericsson Xperia active will be available globally from Q3 2011.
