The leader innovator in communications, Motorola, announced that it has entered into a Settlement and License Agreement with Research In Motion Limited in order to end all litigation around the world between the two described companies.
Motorola and RIM will benefit from an intellectual property cross-licensing arrangement which is long term. This involves the parties receiving cross-licenses of various patent rights, which includes patent rights related to certain technologies like 2G, 3G, 4G, 802.11 and wireless e-mail.
The parties will transfer certain patents to each other, in addition to all that.
Motorola will also receive an up-front payment and ongoing royalties included in the financial terms of the Agreement.
