AMD has introduced its next generation graphics cards, designed to be “perfect graphics cards” for gamers at price starting at $179
The new AMD Radeon HD 6800 series is built on 40nm process technology, feature improved image quality, including all-new morphological anti-aliasing compatible with DirectX 9, DirectX 10, or DirectX 11 applications, and improved anisotropic filtering, Unified Video Decoder 3 (UVD)-a dedicated video playback accelerator, AMD HD3D technology, offer support for DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4a, have Integrated HD audio controller and has new DisplayPort audio features. The new series require 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors. The Radeon HD 6850 has GPU clock at 775, 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM at 4000 MHz and 256-bit memory interface, has 960 Stream Processor and 48 texture units, and is equipped with dual-DVI, one HDMI 1.4a and two mini DisplayPort 1.2, all for recommended price tag of $179.
The Radeon HD 6870 requires two 6-pin PCIe connectors, has 1120 Stream Processors, 56 texture units and its GPU is clocked at 900MHz, memory clocks 4200MHz with 256-bit interface and recommended price tag of $239.
The AMD Radeon HD 6800 series graphics cards will be offered by ASUS, Club 3D, Diamond Multimedia, Force3D, GIGABYTE, HIS, MSI, PowerColor, SAPPHIRE Technology, VisionTek and XFX.
