The other, eight second boot up capable machine, that was present at the Google I/O keynote, comes from Acer.
The 11.6-inch Chromebook weighs 1.34kg, packs LED-backlit LCD with 1366×768 resolution and has pretty much similar specifications like the Samsung’s Chromebook Series 5 – Intel Atom N570 CPU, 16GB SDD, 2GB DDR3 Memory, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, built in Wi-Fi and 3G (optional). There’s also fullsize Chrome keyboard, along with oversize fully-clickable trackpad, HD Webcam with noise cancelling microphone, two speakers, 4-in-1 memory card slot, two USB 2.0 ports and a HDMI port, instead of VGA, found on the Samsung’s model. The 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery promising 8-hours hours of work (according to amazon.com).
Acer Chromebook is cheaper than the Samsung Series 5, starting at $349 and will be also available on June 15th from Amazon and Best Buy.
