Sprint’s first 4G WiMax Android smartphone, the Motorola Photon 4G will land on Sprint’s stores on July 31 and will cost $199.99 with a new two-year contract.
The Motorola Photon 4G measures 66.9 x 126.9 x 12.2 mm and weighs 5.6 oz (158 g). It is powered by a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with each core running at 1GHz, backed by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in memory.
The phone has a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with qHD (960 x 540) resolution and will come with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It offers WiMAX, CDMA and GSM connectivity along with 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot capability, an SDcard slot for up to an additional 32MB, GPS, WiFi with DLNA support, Bluetooth, Full HD 1080p video output via the mini HDMI port, and dual cameras – a 8 megapixel with dual-LED flash rear camera and VGA front-facing camera for video chat. Photon 4G also features a kickstand that will switch the display to landscape mode when is opened.
