The company SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI) has announced the launch of a very interesting Glasses,which are equipped with an HD camera and an advanced algorithms, and promisng to give a new opportunities for a broad range of mobile eye tracking studies.
SMI’s “world`s first binocular mobile eye tracking glasses” also offers automatic parallax compensation to deliver reliable and accurate data over all viewing distances. They are worn like a normal pair of glasses and the wearer only needs to briefly fixate on one point in the environment for initialization. The built-in HD scene camera records in 1280×960 resolution where the person is looking and with “an unprecented level of details”, from far to close distances, e.g. from spacial orientation in sports to reading of a magazine. The glasses also packs two small cameras on its rim ,which capture the eye movements and map the gazepoint into the scene video.
The company proudly announced that their new device will give new possibilities for usability studies, shopper research, driving research, visual perception research or analysis of trainings methods in professional sports and many more eye tracking studies.
