OCZ Technology today introduced its newest solid state drive lineup, based on Indilinx Everest platform and backed by an innovative latency reduction technology, allowing them to deliver read and write access times as low as 0.06ms and 0.09ms. OCZ’s also proudly announced that they have the first solid state drive to offer 1TB capacity in a compact 2.5 inch format.
The new Octane series comes in two variants – Octane SATA 6Gbps and Octane-S2 SATA 3Gbps, which can achieve read/write speeds of up to 560 MB/s and 400 MB/s (45,000 random read 4K IOPS), and 275MB/s and 265MB/s with 30,000 random read 4K IOPS, respectively. Octane SSDs are equipped with Everest Controller which has a dual core ARM processor, with a maximum of 512 MB of DDR3 for caching, also have Indilinx’s proprietary NDurance technology, increasing the lifespan of the NAND flash memory, they support AES and automatic encryption and have integrated page mapping algorithms which allow for steady mixed-workload performance.
The OCZ Octane SSD Series will be available November 1st in models ranging from 128GB-1TB capacities.
