Lite-On, a Taiwanese company better known for making computer optical drives, has introduced the E200 solid state drive.
The new E200 SSD targets small and medium business users and sports an easy-to-install design and technologies that fight performance degradation that occurs over time.
“With the E200 we aim to challenge the concept that SSDs are an unaffordable luxury for SMB; our aim is that smaller companies will be able to experience the increased speed and performance that a fast SSD provides,” says Maarten Souren, Marketing Manager at Lite-On.
The E200 arrives in a 2.5-inch form factor along with a 3.5-inch mounting bracket and can boast with 503 MB/sec read speed and 256 MB/sec write speed as well as random read/write speeds of up to 71,000 IOPS and 64,000 IOPS. The new drive also supports SATA 3.0 and uses a Marvell controller coupled with NAND Toggle Flash.
The implemented True Speed technology guarantees consistent performance over time. In addition the E200 SSD optimizes data and prepares unused space for use. This process automatically continues in the background even when used in conjunction with operating systems that don’t support the TRIM command.
The new Lite-On E200 SSD will be available in 80 GB and 160 GB capacities and will hit stores in April with a 3-year warranty. Pricing is still to be confirmed.
