Sony prepares yet another smartphone

The Sony Xperia GX, formerly known as LT29i Hayabusa, was unveiled just hours ago but the Japanese tech giant is already working on a new smartphone.

This information was revealed by a Chinese source, which appears to have inside information on Sony’s affairs. According to him (or may be to her) the new Sony smartphone is currently known as Xperia ST26i and will be built on the ST-Ericsson U8500 platform.

The novelty resembles the Xperia sola mobile phone but lacks the green back logotype – a remnant from the times when Sony and Ericsson were partners in making mobile phones.

Up front the ST26i comes with buttons that hint that the smartphone will be using Android 2.3 as main OS, although the hardware on the inside should work with Android 4.0 just fine.

As to the specs the Xperia ST26i arrives with a 4-inch display that works at 540 x 960 pixel resolution, support for multitouch, Wi-Fi 802.11n support, Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage.

The release date is unknown and so is price.
