Yesterday was a big day for Apple and its fans as the US electronics giant unveiled a bunch of new products including the highly anticipated MacBook Pro laptop with Retina display.
Of course we shall start with the cherry on top of everything – the Retina display. The new MacBook Pro now comes with a 15.4-inch Retina display that boasts a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels – which is 3 million pixels more compared to a regular HD TV set! The pixels on the Retina display are so small and so densely packed the human eye cannot see them from a normal viewing distance so everything on the screen looks great and incredibly sharp.
The novelty now also comes with Intel’s latest mobile Core i7 Ivy Bridge processors, flash storage of up to 768 GB, GeForce GT 650M graphics, up to 16 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz memory, stand-by battery life of 30 days and up to 7 hours of mobile usage. Additionally the new MacBook Pro now has two Thunderbolt ports, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, FaceTime HD camera, glass Multi-Touch trackpad, full-size backlit keyboard, dual microphones, enhanced speakers, 3-stream 802.11n Wi-Fi and a thinner MagSafe 2 power port – all packed in a chassis that measures just 0.71 inches weighing mere 4.46 pounds.
The new MacBook Pro is now available for 2199 USD and up and for this money you also get OS X Lion too that can be upgraded to Mountain Lion when it becomes available.
The “older” MacBook Air and MacBook Pro line was also updated with new Intel Ivy Bridge processors and NVIDIA graphics. Available in 11-inch and 13-inch designs, the new MacBook Air now features the latest Core i5/i7 dual-core processors, integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000, up to 8 GB memory, FaceTime HD camera, max 256 GB SSD, Thunderbolt port, two USB 3.0 ports, and 5 hours of battery life.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro also features dual-core Core i5/i7, while the 15-inch MacBook Pro runs quad-core Core i7 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete graphics. Both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with a 1 TB hard drive or SSDs up to 512 GB, up to 8 GB DDR3 memory, Thunderbolt port, two USB 3.0 ports, and 7 hours of battery life.
The MacBook Air and MacBook Pro ship with OS X Lion but starting today customers who purchase a Mac are eligible for a free copy of OS X Mountain Lion when it becomes available.
The 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air will cost 999 USD and up and 1199 USD and up respectively, while the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops will sell for 1199 USD and 1799 USD and up correspondingly.
