If you are a software developer Dell has something for you – a XPS 13 laptop that is specifically designed for people like you.
Up until now software developers worked on regular desktop PCs and laptops with no computers specifically optimised for programming. This will no longer be the case in September 2012 when the developer-optimised Dell XPS 13 will hit the market.
The upcoming model will work under Ubuntu Linux version 12.04 LTS and will sport a 13.3-inch screen working at 1366 x 768 pixels, protected by Gorilla Glass and featuring 300 cd/m2. The laptop will be powered by an Intel Core i7 processor, accompanied by 4 GB of DDR3 memory, a 256 GB SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, 1.3 MP web camera, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and MiniDisplay ports. Dell says the laptop can work for up to nine hours with one battery charge.
The price is unknown but it will be below that of the Windows-based XPS 13, which costs 1500 USD.
