HGST, a subsidiary of Western Digital, has officially introduced the world’s first 1 TB mobile hard drive that features 7200 rpm of spindle speed.
The drive is known as HGST Travelstar and is available in the usual 2.5-inch form factor. Inside it comes with two sixth-generation PMR 500 GB platters and sports the so called Advanced Format, which increases the physical sector size from 512 bytes to 4096 bytes for improved drive capacities and error correction capabilities. In addition the HGST Travelstar comes with 32 MB of cache and support for SATA 3.0.
“Computers may come and go, but your personal data remains and continues to grow exponentially, which is why you need reliable storage solutions to help store, preserve, and manage your most valued data. By including the new HGST Travelstar drive in our Touro Mobile Pro and HGST retail hard drive kit, we continue to give consumers multiple storage options with the best performance, capacity and reliability for their digital lives,” said Mike Williams, vice president and general manager, HGST branded business.
The new HGST Travelstar 1 TB 7200 rpm is available now for USD 99.99. Consumers can also get the same solution in the Touro Mobile Pro USB 3.0 external storage solution for USD 109.99 if they wish to do so.
