The Taiwanese motherboard maker ASRock has enriched its AM3+ line of motherboards with a new flagship board known as 990FX Extreme9.
As expected the new company product is based on the well-known AMD 990FX + SB950 chipset combination. Although this means no PCI-Express 3.0 support the ASRock 990FX Extreme9 does deliver – it comes with premium quality gold caps, 12+2 power phase design, Digi Power for better Vcore voltage for the CPU as well as Dual-Stack MOSFET for larger die area.
The specs list continues with four DDR3 DIMM memory slots for up to 64 GB of memory, support for DDR3 memory at 2450 MHz and Intel XMP and AMD AMP memory profiles. The 990FX Extreme9 also promises graphics galore – four PCI-Express x16 slots (albeit at 2.0 speed) support NVIDIA 3-way SLI and AMD 3-way CrossFireX technology. The built-in peripherals also do not disappoint – the board sports Intel 82583V Gigabit LAN and 7.1-channel HD audio by Realtek ALC898 with support for THX TruStudio. Storage is provided by eight SATA 3.0 ports and eight USB 3.0 ports although there are four USB 2.0 ports too.
Finally the board comes with a rich bundle of software that includes X-Boost technology that overclocks your computer just by hitting the X key when the PC is booting up, XFast 555 technology for up to five times faster USB/LAN/RAM speed, Fast Boot for instant Windows boot, ASRock Dehumidifier that prevents dampness and others.
The ASRock 990FX Extreme9 is available now but pricing is unknown.
