The Japanese digital camera maker Olympus has started sales of two compact universal cameras that belong to the company’s Stylus Smart product line – the VR-370 and VG-180 models.
The Olympus VR-370 comes with a 16 MP sensor and offers 12.5x optical zoom in addition to a focal length of 24-30 mm and 35 mm equivalent. The camera offers a dual image stabilization system, which is capable of supporting sharpness in virtually every environment and sports a 3-inch display with 460 000 pixels. Users can record 720p video and use Eye-Fi memory cards. As expected there are a few preset picture modes and Olympus software in the pack. The VR-370 will be available in black, silver, red and blue.
The other new camera is the VG-180. This one also comes with a 16 MP sensor but offers just 5x of optical zoom and a focal length of 26-130 mm in 35 mm equivalent. The VG-180 has a 2.7-inch display with 230 000 pixels and records VGA video with sound. The camera comes with nine preset modes and the i-Auto mode automatically adjusts settings for perfect pictures. The Olympus VG-180 will be available in red or black.
Olympus asks for EUR 139 for the VR-370 camera and EUR 89 for the VG-180 camera.
