The tech story we have been watching for years seems to keep on going – at first there were cell phones, which were replaced by smartphones and now smartphones may end up being replaced by smartwatches – in a few years at least.
The recent announcement by Apple saying that the company works on a smartwatch has been followed by a recent Samsung announcement in which the company admits it too works on a smartwatch.
The smartwatch is a device that looks very much like a regular watch yet it has some of the functions of modern smartphones including making certain information better accessible to the end user. The first generation of smartwatches whenever they come will surely run Android or Apple iOS.
Apple has been working on its iWatch device, which is another name for a smartwatch, for quite some time and some analysts expect the device to appear on the market either in 2013 or sometime in 2014. If true then Samsung will play catch-on but competition is always a good thing and the new round of Apple-Samsung market clashes promises to be very intriguing.
