The Korean tech giant Samsung has achieved another first – the company has presented the world’s first commercial smartphone that supports LTE-Advanced (LTE-A).
LTE-A is an upgrade to the existing LTE technology and allows faster data transfer that reaches up to 150 Mbit/sec. South Korea will be the first country to see this service. Currently LTE-A is available in Seoul only but by the end of the year the service will also cover another 84 Korean towns and cities.
The Galaxy S4 LTE-A, also known as SHV-E330S, is pretty much similar to the existing Galaxy S4 smartphone except for two things – the LTE-A modification comes with a powerful Snapdragon 800 processor with four processing cores and is a bit heavier than the regular Galaxy S4.
The Galaxy S4 LTE-A will reach the market this summer. Pricing is unknown as of now.
