US memory maker Kingston has presented a new SSD family. The new SSDNow E50 is a cheaper version of the high-end SSDNow E100 devices and comes housed in a 2.5-inch chassis with overall thickness of 7 mm. As expected the new SSD family fully supports SATA 3.0.
The SSDNow E50 family consists of three drives with 100 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB of capacity; all three drives come with SandForce SF-2581 controllers. The 100 GB and 240 GB models reach 550 MB/sec of read speed and 530 MB/sec of write speed as well as 85 000 IOPS of random read and 80 000/73 000 IOPS of random write. The most spacious 480 GB model is a bit slower – it features 530 MB/sec of read speed and 500 MB/sec of write speed and 74 000 IOPS of random read and 36 000 IOPS of random write.
Kingston has not shared any details on pricing or market availability of the new SSDNow E50 family.
