It may not be a very well-known fact but AMD has been on the memory market for quite some time now selling Radeon memory that has been specifically optimized for AMD processors although this memory also works fine on Intel-based computers. Now the Radeon memory line has gotten extended by one more member – the Radeon R9 Gamer memory.
The new memory has nothing in common with the popular and latest AMD Radeon R9 line of graphics cards. Sporting the common DDR3 standard the new AMD R9 memory can run as high as 2400 MHz and fully supports both Intel and AMD systems. Depending on consumer needs AMD offers both 2400 MHz and 2133 MHz memory in 4 GB and 8 GB memory modules. The 2133 MHz memory runs at 10-11-11-30 latencies at 1.65V while the 2400 MHz memory offers 11-12-12-31 latencies. There also are kits of 4 x 4 GB, 2 x 4 GB, 2 x 8 GB and 4 x 8 GB. Unfortunately the new memory can run at 2400 MHz only when using a single memory stick per channel.
An 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-2133 kit sells for USD 116, while four dollars more will get you the same capacity but at 2400 MHz. 16 GB memory kits will sell for USD 227 (4 x 4 GB) while identical 2 x 8 GB kits will cost you USD 215.
