The famous cooling solutions manufacturer Zalman has announced a new universal passive CPU cooler known as FX70.
The FX70 catches attention thanks to its usage of unusual heat sink fins. There are 15 of them and they all carry the Twist codename, which means they have been specifically improved to be able to carry more heat away from the processor. In addition the FX70 makes use of a copper base that sports 6 heat copper pipes that are nickel-plated as well.
The new Zalman cooler measures 110 x 140 x 158 mm and weighs 530 grams. The device supports all modern CPU sockets, including Intel LGA 775/1150/1155/1156/1366/2011 and AMD AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2/FM1/FM2. You can passively cool processors with TDPs of up to 80 watts but if you use a more power hungry processor you can add two 120 mm cooling fans to the FX70 and be just fine.
The Zalman FX70 sells now for USD 45.70 – this price also includes some Zalman ZM-STG2 thermal paste and a back plate for better and more secure CPU cooler mounting.
