The fact that Intel will soon start offering new Haswell “Refresh” processors is hardly news. The chips are expected to officially debut on May 10 this year but although this day is still a month away the US chip giant has quietly added all new Haswell Refresh chips to its price list. This likely means that you will see the new CPUs at a store near you even before May 10.
Intel has listed a total of 44 new chips that include 27 desktop models and 17 mobile chips. Quite honestly there’s nothing interesting about the new processors as they cover the entire Haswell product line (Celeron, Pentium, Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7), come with the same Haswell architecture and offer just a 100-200 MHz speed bump. There’s a new non-K leader – the Core i7-4790 that runs at 3.6 GHz and five new mobile quad-core processors that run between 2.1 GHz and 2.5 GHz .
