The well-known US maker of solid-state drives and computer memory Kingston Technology has started the sales of its newest HyperX Fury SSDs. The new drives measure 69.8 x 100.1 x 7 mm and weigh 86 grams.
There are two models as of now with capacities of 120 GB and 240 GB with both of them coming in the quite common 2.5-inch form factor. They are based on MLC NAND flash memory and make use of the well-known SandForce SF-2281 memory controller and the latest SATA 3.0 standard for storage drives.
Performance-wise the HyperX Fury SSDs reach 330/130 MB/sec of read/write speed for the 120 GB model and 390/250 MB/sec of read/write speed for the 240 GB model. Random read/write of 4K blocks scores 72500/79000 IOPS for both models. In addition to that the new SSDs need 0.31W of power in idle mode, 1.65W when reading and 2.76W when writing.
The new Kingston SSD line supports all modern SSD technologies including TRIM and wear-leveling and offers a 3-year warranty. The pricing of the SSDs was not mentioned, though.
