The popular maker of hard drives and various storage devices Western Digital (WD) has presented the My Cloud Mirror personal cloud system. The new device comes with two internal hard drives and targets owners of small-sized networks who want to have additional data protection and simple cloud services at home or in the office.
The My Cloud Mirror system completely supports RAID for both PC and Mac systems and is now available in capacities of 4 TB, 6 TB and 8 TB. The cloud system is fully compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8; on the Apple side it supports OS X Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion and Snow Leopard as well as various devices that support the DLNA/UPnP standard.
The 4 TB version of the My Cloud Mirror sells for around USD 450, while the 6 TB and 8 TB models will cost you USD 580 and 670, respectively. WD also bundles WD SmartWare Pro software for users of Windows and Apple Time Machine for users of Mac computers.
