The end of Q2 2014 has prompted numerous companies to publish the results that they have achieved so far. Apart from these publications this time is also brag time and Seagate has used this perfect opportunity to demonstrate tech capabilities. More specifically the famous US company has shared information that certain corporate customers now have 8 TB Seagate hard drives for testing.
There’s no extensive information on these 8 TB drives except that they are related to Seagate’s Kinetic platform and that they will likely be used in cloud storage systems at first. Currently Seagate has 6 TB drives on the market but unlike Western Digital that fills its 6 TB hard drives with helium, Seagate does not, which bodes well for the company and its upcoming drives.
As to corporate results, Seagate continues to push faster 7200 rpm notebook hard drives on the market. The company also enjoys higher interest towards its hybrid hard drives and Seagate expects to sell no less than 2.5 million of them this quarter.
