The Japanese maker of digital cameras Ricoh has announced the Pentax K-3 Prestige Edition camera – a special version of its Pentax K-3 DSLR. The special edition camera commemorates the many awards given to the K-3 and comes in a special gunmetal gray color. The special edition includes a matching battery grip, two batteries and an exclusive camera strap. Being special, the Pentax K-3 Prestige Edition will be available in 2000 kits only that will be sold worldwide.
The new camera does not come with a ton of innovations or new features. In fact the truth is that it has the same features, dimensions and specs as the regular Pentax K-3 with one exception – the firmware is different and offers the latest 1.10 version. Still, we will mention some of the important specs of the Pentax K-3 Prestige Edition – a 24 MP APS-C-sized CMOS sensor, fastest continuous shooting at 8.3 FPS, a selectable anti-aliasing filter, a SAFOX11 autofocus module, real time scene analysis with 86 000-pixel sensor, professional H.264 video, dual SD card slots, 100 – 51200 ISO, a HDMI port, HDR image capture, a Pentaprism optical viewfinder and protection against weather events.
The Pentax K-3 Prestige Edition will be commercially available in August 2014 for a suggested retail price of USD 1399.95.
