The company COUGAR, known for making computer peripherals and gaming gear, has launched a high-end aluminum keyboard known as 700K. The keyboard appears to be a really well thought out piece of engineering as it has succeeded in winning the 2014 iF International Design Award. This is what makes COUGAR say the 700K is the best gaming keyboard on the market.
The COUGAR 700K is a mechanical gaming keyboard that targets professional PC gamers and especially those that play Massive Multiplayer Online Games (MMOs). Designed for heavy use the keyboard comes with German Cherry MX mechanical key switches that last up to 50 million keystrokes. On the outside the COUGAR 700K follows lines inspired by stealth warship technology and sports carefully selected geometrical shapes – the mechanical key modules are mounted on an exposed aluminum structure with premium anodized surface treatments while a plastic frame surrounds the keys to create a sturdy, stylish and durable keyboard. The wrist support makes using the keyboard easy and fun while the LED-backlit keys provide a nice gaming atmosphere; the colors can be customized too.
The new keyboard comes with a 1000 Hz polling rate and 1 ms of response time and supports unlimited simultaneous key presses without missing any function. The repeat rate can also be changed and you can choose among 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x settings. There also are 6 programmable G-keys, one of which is for thumb use and other five silver buttons on the left side. Finally there’s a FPS magnetic soft touch palm rest that provides great ergonomic support. They keyboard also has a golden-plated USB plug and a 1.8m braided cable.
On the inside the COUGAR 700K features a 32-bit ARM processor that controls everything and on-board memory that is enough to store up to three full configuration profiles. And COUGAR’s UIX software app allows you to combine all your COUGAR peripherals into a single application interface and conveniently configure them as if they are the same device.
The COUGAR 700K is available on the market now but unfortunately there is no information on how much the keyboard costs. We are sure, though, that such a device cannot be cheap.
