The Republic of Gamers (ROG) division of ASUS has released the rumored small-form factor GR8 gaming PC. We reported on the novelty back in the summer with some preliminary information on it but now the GR8 is here and it even features a few improvements.
The main goal of the GR8 is to deliver excellent gaming performance in a small-sized chassis so that you can take your gaming PC anywhere. Indeed the GR8 is housed in a chassis with a volume of just 2.5 liters, which makes it really small. Now to be honest with you, the GR8 is not the fastest gaming PC there is but this is the price to pay for the portability that you get. Still, the ASUS GR8 is not slow at all – it has an Intel Core i7-4510U processor at 2 GHz (3.1 GHz Turbo, 15W TDP), up to 16 GB of DDR3L SDRAM memory, up to 1 TB of hard drive storage (a 256 GB SSD is optional), GeForce GTX 750 Ti graphics with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, SupremeFX Audio, Intel Gigabit LAN, numerous ports and preinstalled Windows 8.1. The GR8 is also capable of playing 4K content and can be hooked up to a HDTV through a HDMI or DisplayPort connection for truly vivid visuals.
ASUS has thoroughly thought of a way to immerse gamers even more and this is why the GR8 comes with incredible audio solutions, next to the installed SupremeFX audio. The machine offers Sonic SenseAmp, Sonic SoundStage, Sonic Studio, and Sonic Radar II for unmatched audio quality. There’s an easy way to upgrade the computer if you feel like it – just slide the covers and you will get instant access to the additional hard drive slot and memory banks. Despite the gaming-grade hardware inside the ROG GR8 is incredibly energy efficient – the computer needs just 13W when idle and 70-77W of power when running at full 3D loads. To make things even better the GR8 comes bundled with the excellent ROG Gladius optical mouse and the M801 mechanical keyboard, which give players awesome control in intense gaming situations.
Sounds great, doesn’t it? Unfortunately ASUS has not disclosed the price of the GR8 but you can always check for more information with your local ASUS dealer.
