However, if you want to have the world’s smallest travel router you will have to turn to TP-LINK as the company is the only one to offer such a device, at least for now.
The world’s smallest router comes to all of us under the TL-WR702N product name and despite its small size of 57 x 57 x 18 mm it packs all the features and technologies that you expect from a modern networking router. The device targets people who travel often or hotel owners who want to better serve their clients. Smaller than a hockey puck, the TP-LINK TL-WR702N offers 802.11n Wi-Fi, great wireless coverage, easy setup, advanced security features and firewall, Quality of Service (QoS) and five operational modes – Access Point (AP), Router, Client, Bridge or Repeater mode. As to security the small-sized router offers support for WEP, WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryptions.
To make things easier the new TP-LINK product gets power through the device’s micro USB port and there is a choice to make – you can either use a provided external power adapter or connect the device to a USB port of a computer. A Pre-Encryption function sets the initial SSID and password for extra wireless protection for the user.
“The TP-LINK Nano router is a must have accessory to carry in your travel bag,” says Mark Macaulay, director of sales for TP-LINK Canada. “For only around $25 this feature-rich travel gadget will allow users to setup secure private hotspots on-the-fly.”
