Alienware – the gaming division of Dell – has started the sales of its latest compact gaming PC, called Alpha. The machine is available in several configurations but the most expensive is just USD 899 which isn’t that much for a gaming PC.
Here’s what you can get – the most basic configuration sells for USD 549 and includes an Intel Core i3-4130T Haswell processor with 2 cores at 2.9 GHz, 4 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory, a 500 GB hard drive and Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160. Then for USD 699 you can get the same configuration that has been upgraded here and there – the package includes 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory and a 1 TB hard drive. A configuration with an Intel Core i5-4590T processor with four cores at 2.0 GHz (3.0 GHz Turbo), 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory, a 1 TB hard drive and Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 will set you back with USD 799. Finally for USD 899 you can get the Alpha with an Intel Core i7-4765T processor with four cores at 2.0 GHz (3.0 GHz Turbo), 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory, a 2 TB hard drive and Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265.
All configurations include a factory-overclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics card with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, an optical drive and an Ethernet controller. The computers run Windows 8.1 64-bit and make use of Alienware’s Alpha UI along with the Steam Big mode. In addition Alpha has been designed to be used with a game controller so a keyboard and a mouse are not needed. The package also includes a Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller and in addition to it you can get the optional Logitech Wireless Touch K400 keyboard, wireless Klipsch KG-300 headphones and much more.
