A year ago the maker of high-end gaming peripherals Razer unveiled the Nabu – a new smart wearable. The device featured a private OLED message screen at 128 x 32 pixels, a lithium-polymer battery good for 5-7 days, an accelerometer, a cylindrical vibration motor, IP54 certification making it water-resistant and two sizes – medium-large at 81.0mm (L) x 63.4mm (H) x 13.6mm (W) and small-medium at 75.3mm (L) x 59.1mm (H) x 13.6mm (W). The Nabu can connect to Android 4.3 (or higher) devices and iPhone 5c and newer iPhone models via Bluetooth LE and provide notifications for events as well as keep track of your fitness activities.
Now the Razer Nabu smartband is heading towards North America where customers will be able to purchase it starting December 2, 2014. During this one year the wearable has been polished and improved having gone through “extensive consumer and developer testing”, which has provided valuable feedback that has contributed towards the final form of the device. As a sign of gratitude towards the community that has supported the development of Nabu ever since the announcement of the smartband at CES 2014, a batch of 5000 Nabu units will be made available to US members of Razer Insider forums.
The gizmo will be available for purchase in two sizes – the aforementioned small-medium and medium-large sizes and will feature four colors – green, white, orange and black. Black will be the first color to be released with the rest following a bit later. The Nabu will sell for USD 99 at RazerStore and other select retailers.
