The past few months have been the time of Cougar gaming keyboards – the acclaimed gaming hardware maker first released the 700K high-end gaming keyboard and then the 600K, which sits one step lower than the 700K. Both keyboards cannot be called cheap so Cougar has prepared something new for people who need a gaming keyboard but do not want to spend that much cash on one.
The new company product in question is the new Cougar 500K gaming keyboard that now becomes the latest addition to Cougar’s line of gaming keyboards. The 500K is a cheaper version of the 600K and the 700K, yet it tries to combine the best features of the latter. It includes all the pro-gamer functions of the 700K and the same layout as well as six fully customizable G-keys and dedicated keys for macro recording, configuration profile switching, backlight control, Windows key locking, full N-key rollover that lets you press any number of keys simultaneously, a USB connection and a FPS-friendly palm-rest. All these features can be managed through Cougar’s free UIX Device Management System software. All is good but like we said the 500K is a cheaper gaming keyboard and that’s why it comes with membrane keys and lacks the brushed aluminum cladding that can be seen in both the 600K and the 700K.
