People who work with digital cameras in unfavorable conditions will soon be treated with new rugged SDHC and microSDHC memory cards made by Transcend. The new cards will have capacities of 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB and resistance against various threats.
More specifically the cards will be resistant against low and high temperatures and will be able to work at temps between -40 degrees Celsius and +85 degrees Celsius. In addition they can survive shock, dust, water and even X-rays.
The new cards will use MLC NAND flash memory and will fully meet all SD Specification Version 3.01 requirements. Moreover they will have support for ECC and will provide up to 20 MB/sec of data transfer speed.
The release date of the new cards is unknown and so is the pricing.
