ASRock has unveiled a new Haswell-E motherboard, which this time comes in the well-known micro-ATX form factor. This means that people who lack space can still enjoy the power of the latest high-end Intel Haswell-E platform as well as see the performance advantages of the latest DDR4 system memory. The motherboard is called X99M-Killer USB 3.1 and follows the steps of the already released ASRock X99E-ITX mobo.
Unfortunately the small size of the X99M-Killer USB 3.1 means that ASRock has cut some features here and there. You get two USB 3.1 ports, a 24-pin ATX connector, 8-pin EPS, an optional 4-pin molex, a 12-phase VRM scheme for the CPU as well as two PCI-E 3.0 x16 slots wired to the CPU and a single PCI-E 2.0 x16 (electrical x4) slot connected to the PCH chip on the board. The motherboard, however, offers four DDR4 memory slots, which means you will be able to take advantage of quad-channeled DDR4 SDRAM.
The rest of the specs of the ASRock X99M-Killer USB 3.1 includes ten SATA 3.0 ports (two of which turn into SATA-Express 10 Gb/sec ports), an eSATA 3.0 port, one Ultra M.2 port, ASRock Purity Sound 2 on-board sound, two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, a total of six USB 3.0 ports, two low latency USB 2.0 ports and dual BIOS.
No word on pricing or availability as of now.
