For years Apple has been known for updating its Mac OS X operating system on a regular basis and although the latest update called Yosemite didn’t come that long ago, Apple has announced its successor at the on-going Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
The new OS X update is called El Capitan and its main task is to replace Yosemite on Mac computers. Unfortunately for Mac users El Capitan will not bring a large number of improvements when compared to Yosemite. While Yosemite came with major visual changes, El Capitan will add some finishing touches to the Yosemite picture. Here’s what you can expect from the new OS X 10.11 El Capitan – the new OS update will introduce support for snapping two windows side by side just by clicking and holding on the full screen button in a window and then dragging it to the left or the right side of the screen. Spotlight has also been significantly improved and now this OS feature includes optimizations for use with contextual info such as Weather, Stocks, News and Sports scores. The update adds support for multi-touch gestures inside the Mail app and now Safari allows pinned tabs for frequently accessed websites that load right upon the pin in the upper left-hand corner of the web page. Maps in El Capitan now receive public transit directions similar to the Apple Maps app in iOS 9. Finally, OS X El Capitan adds the Metal API to the Mac along with many performance/speed improvements.
The new El Capitan update will be available this fall.
