When you hear the brand name Samsung you probably think of high-end smartphones only but the truth is that the Korean tech giant also makes a large number of budget-oriented handsets that sell well on emerging markets. The Galaxy Grand Prime smartphone is an excellent example- released about 9 months ago the smartphone offered more than decent specs in a budget-friendly price so it came to be a big hit on emerging markets.
Despite this Samsung now plans an update in the form of a smartphone that will be called Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition. The name of the handset says a lot – it will be a budget device and since it is an update it will come with somewhat improved specs. The preliminary information on the device states that the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition will come with a Marvell PXA1908 quad-core processor instead of the Snapdragon 401 in the Galaxy Grand Prime, the same 5-inch display at 960 x 540 pixels, 8 GB of internal memory, 1 GB of RAM, a rear 8 MP camera and another 5 MP front one and the same 2600 mAh battery. The Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition will, however, run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and this will perhaps be the biggest upgrade the handset will get when compared to the Galaxy Grand Prime. The new smartphone will also be available in white and gold colors.
No word on when the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition will hit the market and how much it will cost.
