The US maker of SSDs and computer memory Kingston Technology has announced the new HyperX Savage USB flash drive that now joins Kingston’s Savage line of solid-state drives and memory modules. The new USB flash drive also replaces Kingston’s DataTraveler HyperX USB 3.0 flash drive.
The new HyperX Savage USB drive offers three capacities of 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB but they are not the main perk of the device. Speed is what the Savage USB drive is all about and that’s why the new USB flash drive comes with exceptionally fast data transfer speeds of up to 350 MB/sec read and up to 250 MB/sec write (for 128 GB and 256 GB models) thanks to its compliance to the USB 3.1 Gen. 1 standard. The 64 GB version is a bit slower – it reads at up to 350 MB/sec and writes at up to 180 MB/sec. The drive does not disappoint with its looks too – on the outside it features a sleek black casing with a metallic red HyperX logo. It is compatible with PCs and Macs and even gaming consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One.
“We are excited to offer this USB drive for gamers and enthusiasts to take advantage of the emerging USB 3.1 Gen. 1 standard, also commonly referred to as USB 3.0,” said Valentina Vitolo, Flash Business Manager, EMEA. “This is our fastest USB Flash drive and the combination of high performance, great looks and aggressive design makes it a perfect solution for PCs and consoles.”
The new USB flash drive by Kingston measures 76.3 x 23.48 x 12.17 mm and comes with a 5-year warranty with free technical support. It is also backwards compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. No word on pricing, though.
