Intel has quietly updated its Skylake processor list with the addition of new Skylake models that support vPro technology. The new chips are virtually the same as the old ones, save for the support for vPro, which gives them the ability to work with virtualization.
The new chips cover a very wide market segment – they start with the mobile Core m5-6Y57, m7-6Y75, Core i5-6300U, Core i5-6360U and Core i5-6440HQ processors and include several desktop processors – Core i5-6600, Core i5-6600T, Core i5-6500, Core i5-6500T, Core i7-6700 and Core i7-6700T.
Interestingly enough the new chips have full support for Windows 7, which is in contrast to the recent announcement by Microsoft, which states that new processors will be able to work only with Windows 10. Intel has officially stated that the new Skylake processors with vPro will be able to run Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 with no problems.
There’s no information on the pricing of the new silicon.
