There’s a new rumor online that claims NVIDIA is busy working on a new graphics card called GeForce GTX 950 SE. The new card will be based on the GM206 Maxwell GPU and will sit below the GeForce GTX 950, which was launched in August 2015.
The possibly upcoming GeForce GTX 950 SE will finally retire the older GeForce GTX 750 and GTX 750 Ti cards that have been around for years. The GTX 750 and GTX 750 Ti are based on the first generation Maxwell GM107 GPU and lack some features of the 2nd generation Maxwell GPUs – something that the GTX 950 SE will fix. The upcoming card will probably be a slower version of the GTX 950 but the hardware inside will not be crippled – the preliminary specifications list 640 CUDA cores, a 128-bit memory bus, 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and support for HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort and DVI. The performance of the GTX 950 SE will likely be the same (or around) the performance of the GTX 750 Ti but the new card will offer 2nd generation Maxwell features. In addition the power requirements of the GTX 950 SE may be the same as in the GTX 750 Ti, which means the new card may not require an additional power connector.
Sales are expected to start in March. The GTX 950 SE will likely sell for around USD 120, which the same price the GTX 750 Ti retails today.
