Most notebooks rarely need extra fast memory but this is not the case with gaming notebooks where performance is king. It is for such computers that G.SKILL has developed a new crop of DDR4 SO-DIMM memory that runs at the insane 3000 MHz.
The new addition to the Ripjaws SO-DIMM DDR4 family runs at 16-18-18-43 clocks and needs just 1.2V to operate properly while most other such memory needs 1.35V to do the same. The memory is available in 8 GB to 32 GB configurations (2 x 16 GB) and has been designed from the ground up for gaming notebooks and small-form factor PCs. Moreover the new Ripjaws memory supports the newest Intel XMP 2.0 standard and works just fine with 6th generation Intel Core processors.
The G.SKILL DDR4-3000 SO-DIMM memory modules will be in stores later this month. No word on pricing as of now.
