SteelSeries has announced a new gaming keyboard – the Apex M500 – which comes to us with an interesting idea behind – the keyboard combines simplicity with a number of useful features. The reason for this decision is that the people at SteelSeries feel that there are gamers who do not need a gaming keyboard that looks like it has come from a sci-fi movie. So this is how the Apex M500 was born.
Despite its simple design, the Apex M500 is a serious gaming keyboard for serious gamers. SteelSeries says the Apex M500 is a tournament-ready mechanical keyboard and to prove this claim the company has fitted its new product with Cherry MX Red mechanical switches and SteelSeries Engine customization software. In addition to this the Apex M500 also features a traditional key layout for universality, Anti-Ghosting technology and blue LED backlighting.
“The APEX M500 is my new keyboard of choice. It’s a tank and lives up to the quality of the 6Gv2, the mechanical keyboard that I’ve been using for a year now,” says Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling, Carry for Evil Geniuses Dota 2. “This keyboard is everything I think a majority of players look for when it comes to quality and feel, it’s going to be a product that will be used at the pro level for a long, long time.”
The new Apex M500 looks like a regular keyboard but it supports individual key programming and creation of macros by using the SteelSeries Engine software. Gamers can also launch game profiles automatically and create unlimited profiles. Moreover the Cherry MX Red switches are guaranteed for 50 million presses and in addition to this the Apex M500 comes with a smart cable management system with three cable guides that adapts to your keyboard setup to eliminate tangles and interference.
The new SteelSeries Apex M500 keyboard is available now online where it sells for USD 99.99/EUR 119.99. In May the keyboard will also be available in stores.
