Acer has announced one more device after debuting new Predator gaming computers and the Aspire S 13 thin notebook. The newcomer in Acer’s product list is called Chromebook 14 for Work and clearly states what it has been designed for.
Acer says the Chromebook 14 for Work is the industry’s first Chromebook with 6th generation Intel Core Skylake processors. The device has been designed for long work sessions and this is why it comes with a battery that can last for up to 12 hours. This Chromebook is also the world’s first such device to come with Vibrant Corning Gorilla Glass, which allows corporate customers to design the top cover with photorealistic images that are highly durable and scratch-resistant.
“Our commercial customers have an abundance of reasons to choose the new Acer Chromebook 14 for Work,” said Jerry Hou, general manager, Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer. “Its first-rate performance and robust design provides businesses with a powerful and flexible product that delivers topnotch reliability and reduced total cost of ownership. In addition, the Chromebook 14 for Work can be efficiently deployed and managed, while maintaining excellent security for its employees.”
The new Acer Chromebook 14 for Work is available with 14-inch displays that work at HD or Full HD resolution, depending on the model chosen. The HD models battery can last for up to 12 hours, while Full HD models are limited to a battery life of 10 hours. The notebook comes with a spill-resistant keyboard that provides protection against spills of up to 11 fluid ounces (330 ml). It has a unique gutter system under the keyboard and touchpad that drains the liquid through two drain holes to take water away from internal components and out through the bottom of the chassis. In addition to this the Chromebook 14 for Work can withstand up to 132 pounds (60 kg) of downward force as well as drops of up to 48 inches (122 cm). Inside the Chromebook has an Intel Skylake processor, 2 GB/4 GB/8 GB of LPDDR3 SDRAM, 16 or 32 GB of internal eMMC memory, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a USB 3.0 Type-C port for fast data transfers, a 720p web camera, and Bluetooth 4.2. Every Chromebook 14 for Work owner also gets 100 GB of free storage on Google Drive.
The new Acer Chromebook 14 for Work will be in stores in May. The device will start at USD 349 in the USA and at EUR 249 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
