Kingston Digital, Inc. – the flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology – has announced the market release of a new solid-state drive line, known as UV400. The new line is aimed at budget-conscious users but still comes with excellent performance.
Surprisingly, the UV400 drives ship in a chassis that is shock and vibration resistant, which makes the drives more rugged than many other models on the market. The new UV400 SSDs also feature a fast quad-channeled Marvell 88SS074 memory controller that allows them to enjoy read speeds of up to 550 MB/sec and up to 500 MB/sec of write speed. The drives are available as stand-alone drives and as bundle kits that ship with all the accessories needed such as a 2.5-inch enclosure for notebooks and a 3.5-inch adapter for desktop computers, SATA cables and Acronis data migration software. The UV400 line includes four models with capacities of 120 GB, 240 GB, 480 GB and 960 GB (coming soon). The drives are 2.5-inch and measure 100.0 x 69.9 x 7.0 mm. Their weight is just 57 grams.
“We are proud to bring UV400 to market allowing users of all levels to replace their current mechanical hard drives with an SSD and see the benefits of higher performance,” said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston. “The combination of a powerful four-channel controller and TLC NAND makes UV400 perfect for consumers who want to upgrade their existing system at an entry-level price.”
There’s no information how much the new UV400 SSDs cost.
