Cougar has established itself as being one of the world’s makers of gaming peripherals and today the company has confirmed its status with two new gaming devices – the 450M gaming mouse and the 450K gaming keyboard.
The new Cougar 450K keyboard is marketed as being based on “hybrid mechanical switches”, which we are not sure what exactly this means. What’s known however is that there is a membrane layer underneath the switches that makes the keyboard water-proof. The 450K is a classic keyboard that has a plain 104-key design with various extra features such as media controls and volume level keys. In addition to this it has 6-key rollover and anti-ghosting as well as 1000 Hz polling rate, on-board memory for gaming profiles and three-color backlighting with yellow, green and red options. Moreover this is full-cover lighting, not per-key.
The new Cougar 450M gaming mouse is an ambidextrous one, which means it should work well enough for both left-handed and right-handed people. The mouse has standard buttons, a second set of forward and backward navigation buttons on the right side and a DPI switch. On top the 450M has a shiny plastic top and there’s RGB lighting as well. The 450M uses a braided USB 2.0 cable for connectivity to any PC and offers a 5000 dpi sensor, 1000 Hz polling rate and 512 KB of on-board memory for storing profiles.
Both the 450K gaming keyboard and the 450M gaming mouse will be available in Europe in December of this year, while US customers will have to wait until early 2016 to get the new gaming devices.
