The US company Microdia, which designs microSD memory cards, has come up with a new microSD memory card that comes with the record capacity of 512 GB. The new card is called Xtra Elite and fully supports the SD 4.0 memory card standard as well as UHS and is capable of data transfer speeds that reach 300 MB/sec, which mimics SSD speed.
The new card is designed for professional photographers and people who work with large video files. While the card will bring you unrivaled capacity and performance, it will cost quite a bit – prepare USD 1000 for it, but if this is too much for you, you will soon be able to get a smaller 64 GB version for about USD 15, which is by far a more manageable price.
Microdia failed to mention when the new card will be on the market but we suspect it will be available for purchase this summer.
