The US branch of Acer has presented the new C910 Chromebook – a 15.6-inch notebook that is designed for students and business customers who need computing on the go along with excellent Chrome performance.
The new notebook has hardware that can create some envy – the new C910 model depends on an Intel Core i5-5200U Broadwell processor and has 4 GB of DDR3L memory, 32 GB of SSD storage and a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display at 1920 x 1080 pixels. A cheaper version of the same notebook offers a 15.6-inch HD display at 1366 x 768 pixels but both versions sport the Acer ComfyView technology with anti-glare properties for less reflection and eye strain. The C910 also has 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, a HDMI port and a card reader. The battery provided can fuel the notebook for up to 8 hours.
“The new faster performing Acer C910 Chromebook with an Intel Core i5 processor is raising the bar for Chromebook performance,” said Carlos Siqueiros, mobility business manager, Acer America. “The advanced technology will boost productivity and help our education and commercial customers get the most out of their Chromebook experience for collaboration on important projects and research.”
The Acer C910 Chromebook is to be taken around a lot, which means that the notebook may suffer some damage if not handled properly. Acer has thought of this too – the C910 comes with a reinforced chassis that can withstand up to 60 kg (132 lb) of force, while the corners can survive up to 45 cm (1.5 feet) drops with no damage. Furthermore the Chromebook comes with a sleek and comfortable design that ensures a secure grip. Speaking of this the Acer C910 Chromebook measures 393 x 256 x 24.2 mm (15.4 x 10.08 x 0.95 inches) and weighs only 2.2 kilograms (4.85 pounds).
The new Acer C910 Chromebook will be available in early April for USD 499.99.
