The Chinese computer maker Lenovo has announced massive refreshment of its lines of business-oriented notebooks and desktop computers. The list of new company products includes the new ThinkPad Helix, which is a complete 2-in-1 ultrabook that takes computing to the next level thanks to state-of-the-art hardware and continues with new all-in-one tabletop PCs, new ThinkCentre models and the Edge 15, which is an ultra-sleek dual-mode laptop for consumers.
The new Lenovo ThinkPad Helix is an ultra modern ultrabook that provides more than enough power for all kinds of computational tasks and the flexibility to have both tablet and laptop features in one package. The device weights 2.98 pounds (1.35 kilograms) and is just 0.38 inches (0.96 cm) thick, which makes it 15 per cent thinner than its predecessor. The new machine is powered by Intel’s all-new Core M processor (14 nm Broadwell) and sits inside a very stylish aluminum chassis that provides a professional look for business. Battery life has been greatly improved too. The 11.6-inch display provides vivid graphics and the ultrabook runs Windows 8.1 out of the box. There are five working modes to choose from – Tablet, Stand, Tent, Laptop and Desktop that will satisfy the needs of the owner no matter where. The device also comes with various pre-loaded software offerings, Gorilla Glass protection for the display and various optional tools like the ThinkPad digitizer pen for additional flexibility and usability. Users can choose between the ThinkPad Helix with Ultrabook keyboard and the ThinkPad Helix with Ultrabook Pro Keyboard for even more power with battery life.
The new Lenovo tabletop PCs are represented by the new HORIZON 2s and 2e models that are now thinner and lighter than before. The computers weight a little more than 5 pounds (2.27 kilograms) and are just 0.59 inches (1.5 cm) thick. The HORIZON 2s is full 10 pounds lighter than the original HORIZON 2 and is easier to carry everywhere thanks to the significantly lowered weight. Both models again provide the same Stand and Flat modes as the previous models and Lenovo’s advanced Aura multi-user interface allows two or more people to access their individual photos, videos and music together on the same screen. Based on Intel Haswell chips and Windows 8.1 the new HORIZON models have more than enough power for everything. The integrated battery provides up to 2.5 hours of streaming HD via Wi-Fi on the 2s and three hours on the 2e, providing users with enough power to watch their favorite film a second time without the hassle of plugging in. They also both come pre-installed with more than 40 multi-user gaming and education applications. A 21.5-inch monitor with FHD technology serves your eyes in the best way possible.
The new Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One (TIO) modular all-in-one (AIO) computer gives the end user the flexibility for everything, including the opportunity to “mix and match” a 23-inch AIO experience with all current ThinkCentre Tiny PCs (sold separately), allowing for separate refresh cycles of a traditional tower setup while offering space saving and outstanding cable management capabilities of an all-in-one PC. The machine has a large and brilliant 23-inch FHD display, an optional optical disk drive (ODD), front-placed USB 3.0 audio ports and much more. For example the new Lenovo TIO has so much flexibility it allows users to choose the chipset and CPU to be used. The computer is powered by a detachable ThinkCentre Tiny PC that seamlessly locks into the back of the monitor within seconds through a simple tool-less setup process. This means there are no cables lying around and when the time to upgrade comes you can just pop the old Tiny PC out of the TIO, drop the new one in and resume back to work in less than two minutes.
The Lenovo Edge 15 is a new thin and light dual-mode laptop. It is under an inch (2.54 cm) thick and weights a bit more than 5 pounds (2.27 kg), which makes it Lenovo’s thinnest 15-inch consumer laptop yet. Offering a thin aluminum chassis and 300-degree hinges, the Edge 15 allows you to choose between two working modes – Laptop and Standard. The machine features a 15.6-inch IPS FHD display with support for 10-point multitouch for more interactive computing experience, Dolby Home Theater stereo speakers, Intel HD 4400 graphics (or an optional NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M video card with 4 GB of VRAM) and a battery that can power the computer for full 8 hours. This makes the Edge 15 ideal for users who don’t want to be tied down with a power cord when on the road, at a business meeting or at the local coffee shop. On the inside the machine has the latest 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of DDR3L memory, up to 1 TB hard drive or hybrid SSHD storage with integrated 16 GB NAND flash or up to 256 GB SSD storage and Lenovo’s SHAREit software.
All new models will be on the market in early October 2014. The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix will start at USD 999, the Lenovo HORIZON 2s and 2e will sell for USD 949 and USD 749, respectively, while the Edge 15 and ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One 23 will be yours for USD 899 and USD 279.
