The latest NVIDIA GPU generation codenamed Maxwell has been spotted in notebooks already with the first GPU of the class coming to us as GeForce GTX 860M. The chip is identical to the desktop GTX 750 Ti and comes with a full set of 640 CUDA cores, 40 TMUs, 16 ROPs and a 128-bit wide memory bus that serves the on-board 2 GB of GDDR5 memory. The actual GPU runs at 540 MHz, while the memory operates at 5000 MHz.
The new notebook video card is said to be two times faster than the older GTX 660M. Tests confirm this information – in 3DMark 11 the GTX 860M scored P5339 while the GTX 660M managed P2563. In 3DMark 11 (extreme preset) the GTX 860M managed X1662 while the GTX 660M got X774.
The new video will soon in the notebook store near you.
