Samsung Electronics has launched a new mSATA SSD drive that belongs to the PM830 family.
The novelty comes with a weight of just 8 grams and is available in capacities of 256, 128 and 64 GB. These drives are designed to be used as primary ones, but there’s also a 32 GB model that is to be used as a cache for a mechanical hard disk drive. All drive models feature SATA 3.0 interface.
The new SSD features a very fast sequential read speed of 500 MB/sec and its write speed of 260 MB/sec ranks it among the fastest on the market. Modern hard drives can only achieve 80 MB/sec of write and read speed.
The new mSATA SSD targets ultrabooks and ultrathin computers.
