The US branch of the Japanese tech giant Toshiba has had the honor of unveiling the new generation of Toshiba Satellite S notebooks. In case you do not know, the Satellite S line includes premium-class notebooks made by Toshiba. The updated models will be on the market for the back-to-school season.
The updated Satellite S notebook line features the latest mobile computer hardware for new performance heights and comes with slim styling, premium design and two screen options – 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch. In addition the new Satellite S line is fully optimized for the upcoming Windows 10 operating system.
“Satellite S Series laptops are a powerhouse platform for productivity,” said Philip Osako, senior director of product marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “Full-featured and packed with premium components in an all-new stunning design, these laptops provide the ultimate entertainment and productivity experience for those who require it in their everyday lives.”
The updated Satellite S notebook line offers 5th generation mobile Intel Core Broadwell processors with two or four processing cores, up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory, up to 2 TB of hard drive storage in a single hard drive option or a 1 TB hard drive plus an additional 128 GB SSD combo and optional discrete graphics chips by NVIDIA. The two displays offered pack a number of resolutions to choose from – Toshiba clients will be treated with three choices – 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels), Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) or HD+ (1600 x 900 pixels) displays. In addition to all this the new Satellite S line features a built-in DVD SuperMulti drive for software installation, playing music or watching movies, the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard, built-in high quality Harman Kardon speakers and USB 3.0 ports (three Super Speed USB 3.0 ports for the 15.6-inch model and two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports for the 17.3-inch model). Finally there’s full support for the upcoming Windows 10 OS.
The new Toshiba Satellite S line will be commercially available on July 29 at various Toshiba retailers. The new Satellite S series will start at USD 719.99 MSRP for the 15.6-inch model and USD 874.99 for the 17.3-inch model. This price includes a pre-installed copy of Windows 8.1 but all new Satellite S models qualify for a free upgrade to Windows 10.
