Although there are some Intel Broadwell processors on the market and their successor Skylake is expected this fall, the US chip maker Intel has decided to refresh its line of Haswell processors once again. This time the refresh will touch only Pentium and Core i3 processors on the Haswell architecture.
There will be four new Pentium models – Pentium G3260, G3260T, G3460T and G3470 – and three new Core i3 models – Core i3-4160, i3-4160T и i3-4360T. The new chips will not bring any new and interesting features except increased clock speed. All new chips will have 100 MHz more compared to their predecessors and this is it. Thus the Pentium G3260 will run at 3.30 GHz, the G3260T at 2.90 GHz, the G3460T at 3.00 GHz, the G3470 at 3.60 GHz, the Core i3-4170 at 3.70 GHz, the i3-4170T at 3.20 GHz, and finally the i3-4370T at 3.30 GHz. All new processors feature two cores only.
Just like before the new Intel Pentium processors will have 2 MB of L3 cache and Intel HD graphics, while the new Core i3 chips will have 3 MB of L3 cache, Intel HD 4400 graphics and support for Hyper-Threading, which will allow them to process up to four software threads at once. The Core i3-4170T is the only model that deserves some attention – this processor will have 4 MB of L3 cache and Intel HD 4600 graphics. As to TDP the Core i3-4170 will have 54W TDP, the Pentium G3260 and G3470 will have 53W TDP and all other models will have 35W TDP.
No word on pricing as of now.
